About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Systems Integration Engineer II to join our Platform Integration team. In this role, you will be crucial in integrating cutting-edge hardware and software components for our autonomous driving systems across various vehicle platforms. This position requires a strong blend of hands-on technical debugging, expertise in large-scale vehicle data analysis, and an ability to proactively identify and resolve complex system-level issues in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly ensure the functionality, performance, and safety of our autonomous features.

  • Work with cross functional teams to integrate hardware and software components on various vehicle platforms.
  • Drive the development and use of in-vehicle and off-vehicle diagnostic tools.
  • Identify, document and highlight cross-functional gaps and dependencies - proactively work towards creative solutions to resolve integration issues and ensure vehicle functionality.
  • Deep-dive into vehicle log data and source code if required to root-cause system-level issues and facilitate rapid issue resolution in collaboration with domain experts.
  • Support preliminary functional verification of ADAS-related SW releases on various test vehicle platforms -prior to hand-off to development & validation teams.
  • Prototype tools and solutions to accommodate rapid development and to bring efficiency (IE. Python scripts and parsing vehicle data).
  • Review vehicle data and correlate data with requirements.
  • Review and analyze large datasets from vehicle logs utilizing platforms like Databricks and Hex to correlate vehicle performance with requirements and develop insightful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly for system health and fault reporting.
  • Lead efforts to improve ADAS system health monitoring, including supporting systems team on defining factory/service facing requirements, configuring data triggers, and designing dashboards to measure and report faults.
  • Accelerate the utilization of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) for early integration testing, resulting in a significant reduction in vehicle regressions. Responsibilities include collaborating with the HIL team to expand smoke and regression testing capabilities, defining and implementing new test cases, managing the test environment (e.g., test branches), and ensuring clear, actionable reporting on test results.
  • Find gaps and work towards filling them with engineering solutions or implementing processes.
  • Incorporate automation and leverage AI to improve efficiency and drive faster development.
  • Lead efforts to improve ADAS system health monitoring, including defining requirements, configuring data triggers, and designing dashboards to measure and report faults.
  • B.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (specifically Spark/Databricks SQL) for complex data analysis, KPI definition, and validation.
  • Working knowledge of C++ for reviewing other developers' code and deep-level debugging/root-cause analysis.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with automotive ECUs, diagnostic protocols (UDS, CAN, Ethernet), and diagnostic tools for debugging and data extraction.
  • Experience working with large-scale, cloud-based vehicle data, including familiarity with log formats and data warehousing platforms (e.g. Databricks).
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or bench testing, including spoofing vehicle signals (e.g., CAN, BBEth) and developing automated test cases.
  • Proficiency with GIT and software repo management tools.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reporting metrics using visualization tools such as Hex or Databricks.
  • Understanding of automotive hardware and software development concepts including continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) software development models.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment, proactively collaborating cross-functionally with Middleware, Data Analytics and other cross-functional teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and communication protocols (CAN, Flexray, Ethernet) and relevant debug tools.
  • Hands-on experience debugging complex systems that involve multiple ECUs with interfaces to various vehicle sub-systems.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety concepts and testing-related safety procedures.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically/internationally to support various vehicle-level integration and test activities.
  • Clean driving record with professional experience driving prototype test-vehicles in test-tracks
