The Electronic Warfare and Airborne Sensors department within the Space and Air Sensors; Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) organization has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Engineer to support ongoing integration, test, and sustainment activities for the Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) Common Electronics Unit (CEU). NGJ is the flagship product for the Electronic Attack Systems mission area within the Naval Power Strategic Business Unit of Raytheon. This position is full-time on-site in Fort Wayne, IN

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Engineering, Physics or Computer Science (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience
  • RF system design, digital and analog signal processing, waveform and signal modulation characteristics and analysis, and/or algorithm implementation and testing.
  • System architecture definition and requirements derivation, allocation, and management
  • Support occasional business travel (20% or less)
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Performs system modeling, simulation, and trade analysis to evaluate performance and guide design optimization.
  • Experience with developing, implementing, and testing RF jamming algorithms.
  • MATLAB, Python, C++, PathWave ADS, and/or PathWave EMPro for simulation and design of RF systems.
  • RF receiver/exciter product design, development, and/or test experience in electronic warfare systems
  • Embedded systems and embedded programming
  • Designs and integrates digital signal processing techniques into embedded and hardware-based systems.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools (eg Cameo or similar).
  • Ability to address complex engineering issues by performing analysis, development, and implementation of solutions to complex engineering problems
  • Communicate system designs, project updates, and technical findings to internal teams and external partners.
  • DOORS for requirements management.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the customer’s architecture needs and desired capabilities and participate in requirements decomposition to ensure appropriate allocation of technical architecture elements.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges in signal processing design.
  • Create or modify existing electronic warfare signal processing and control algorithms.
  • Develop and execute test plans, including test simulations and lab tests to verify system capability.
  • Evaluate and assess functional performance of developmental RF systems, including signal processing subsystems, and firmware/control algorithms.
  • Provides labor and material cost estimates in support of bid and proposal activities, as required.
