About The Position

About our group: The Systems Hardware Engineering design team develops mechanics for data storage systems used to power the internet, cloud, and AI. We are seeking a senior or graduate mechanical engineering student looking for an exciting and fulfilling summer 2026 internship to work alongside our team at our Longmont Colorado design center. This is an extraordinary opportunity for you to gain first-hand experience and expand your knowledge base in the world of product design. This position is 40 hours per week on site. About the role - you will: As an engineering development intern working in the Systems Hardware Engineering group here at Seagate, you will have the opportunity to participate in some of the key areas of product design and development. Senior engineers will guide you on independent projects. Location: Our Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains. Here at work, you can grab breakfast and lunch in the on-site cafeteria or get an afternoon espresso, prepared by a professional barista. Our 1,500+ employees enjoy an active on-site experience from sporting activities (get in a few laps at lunch on our 1-mile walking path around campus, play ping-pong or volleyball, or stop in our 24- hour fitness center for a group or individual workout) to community service and many employee resource groups. The estimated base wage range for this position is $29.00-35.00/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.

Requirements

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Strong affinity for a hands-on approach to engineering and interacting with various engineering disciplines.
  • Team player, responsible, and motivated.
  • Current senior in a bachelor’s program or master’s program and plan to enroll in the Fall ’26 in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Computer Aided Design tools, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience with MS Office, Excel, PPT, Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in the following: Shock and Vibration, Product or Mechanical Design, and Materials Science.
  • Experience or a fundamental understanding of statistical analysis and quality concepts.
  • Experience with 3D printers.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly.
