About The Position

"Ahead of Ready" Ready for a challenge at the speed of Hypersonics Come join Lockheed's Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) team. Our system will travel at Mach 5 (over a mile per second). Helping us create a system that goes that fast means overcoming several difficult physics and engineering challenges. You will be integrating hypersonic missile technology into an Army battery on a highly accelerated schedule to deliver a hypersonic operational prototype system to the Soldier. Learn more about our Hypersonic Solutions and the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program Lockheed Martin is looking for experienced hardware systems engineer that is familiar with launcher, and command and control, ground support systems to support Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program, Hardware Integrated Product Team (IPT) in Huntsville AL. The Systems Engineer will support the LRHW Hardware IPT product execution across all hardware products throughout the Systems Engineering “V” life cycle. The Systems Engineer is the responsible for the full life cycle of the LRHW HW IPT product life cycle. Additional roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs in full Systems Engineering lifecycle processes, to include Army weapons system launchers, Army command and control, Army ground support equipment, design, material procurement, manufacturing, integration of hardware, integration at the system level and product sustainment. Works closely with key suppliers on a daily basis and on site at supplier facilities across the U.S. Communicates expectations, goals, roles, responsibilities, and program objectives Collaborates with government customer representatives, and key suppliers, in support of critical daily operations and distributed multi-element deliveries and activities Leads and performs technical integrated master schedule (IMS) planning and execution Maintains communication with internal personnel, external customers, and peers at various levels. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. (Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.) Requirements

  • Knowledge and/or experience with ground support equipment hardware engineering life cycle process for launch systems
  • Familiarity with DoD programs
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed up to 25%
  • Active or Current Secret Security clearance; US Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) baseline development, management, and reporting
  • Experience of Systems Engineering process, manufacturing engineering and project execution throughout the life cycle process
  • Proposal Basis of Estimate (BoE) development through negotiation
  • Experience with complex weapon systems design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, test and sustainment
  • Demonstrated manufacturing execution, leadership, team building, cross functional collaboration/coordination, and full life cycle product execution
  • Customer interaction and familiarity with the DoD defense acquisition process
  • Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, principles and tools
  • Recognized as an authority in systems thinking techniques with the demonstrated ability to apply them to a wide range of complex manufacturing problems, and demonstrates the ability to train others in their application
