About The Position

The Apple Watch Software team is looking for an exceptionally dedicated software engineering manager to lead a systems and performance team for WatchOS. This team will build new, core architectural technology underpinning future WatchOS features, as well as drive performance and power optimizations at all layers of the operating system. This role will involve developing features, mentoring engineers, growing the team by hiring, and partnering with adjacent teams to improve the Apple Watch. This role requires a passion for understanding both the hardware and software aspects of our products and a passion for learning new technologies. Requirements

• Experience defining and driving application or systems architecture.
• Ability to work with technology partners at all levels of the stack.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Experience working with performance analysis and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a team of deeply technical engineers tackling problems in a variety of domains.
• Collaborate closely with the Performance, Power, OS, Hardware and Graphics teams across Apple to improve the Apple Watch experience.
• Develop and maintain various tools to help engineers ship their features.
• Work at many layers of the system software stack, from firmware or kernel layers up to application layers.
• Diagnose and address functional and performance issues at the language, runtime, and kernel layers as well as in application and system daemons.
• Implement new software components, frameworks, and applications.
• Define and drive application or systems architecture.
• Work with technology partners at all levels of the stack, from hardware, sensors, and firmware to frameworks and applications.
• Utilize strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Work with performance analysis and optimization.
