L3Harris Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Intern in Systems Engineering and Integration for Summer 2026 at its Redmond location. Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September. At L3Harris in the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment, our people further the exploration of space and support our nation's defense. We develop and manufacture rocket engines and propulsion systems in Redmond, Washington that are used on satellites, space probes, and other spacecraft. This position will be located at our facility in Redmond, WA. In this role, the intern will perform Systems Engineering assignments with a focus on requirements development, requirements management, and verification as well as employing Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques. The position requires application of basic principles, theories, and concepts of Systems Engineering for aerospace system development.

  • Assists with the development of requirements for rocket propulsion products.
  • Assists in the derivation, allocation, and documentation of requirements using Model Based Systems Engineering best practices.
  • Documents requirement changes and coordinates the communication of changes to Integrated Product Team members.
  • Assists with defining and coordinating requirements verification plans with integrated product team members.
  • Performs functional analysis and coordinates system trade studies.
  • Documents system architecture decisions using SysML.
  • Assists in the selection of optimized concept baselines through benefit/cost trades in support of definition of system architecture and objectives.
  • Assists in performing project risk and opportunity assessments and development of handling strategies.
  • Communicates summer internship results in oral presentations or written communication.
  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program in Aerospace or Systems Engineering (or similar major) OR enrolled in an advanced degree program in related major, and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
