The Engineer I, Systems Integration is an early career position that supports the development and integration of data-driven solutions. This position assists with creating and validating machine learning models, building data pipelines, and supporting infrastructure development. The Engineer I will help monitor dashboards, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the design and implementation of predictive systems. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. This position operates under the mentorship of senior engineers and offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience with advanced analytics, cloud platforms, and IoT-enabled systems.

  • Assist with monitoring dashboards, product support/issue investigations, customer troubleshooting, etc.
  • Assist with ingress and cleaning of data, conduits between data sources and our storage, development of our infrastructure
  • Assist in design and implementation of solutions involving model creation and data pipelines
  • Support development, testing, and validation of ML algorithms
  • Collaborate with software engineers and systems engineers to integrate predictive models into production systems
  • Develop tools and scripts for data preprocessing, model evaluation, and system diagnostics
  • Learn and navigate Badger Meter systems and procedures
  • Gain familiarization with Badger Meter product portfolio
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Create technical documentation, including JIRA tickets, integration plans, test procedures, and user guides.
  • 1-3 years experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, data analysis, and statistical modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic software development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with data engineering tools (e.g. pandas, polars, SQL) and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with creating, tuning, deploying, and assessing machine learning algorithms
  • Experience working with time series datasets and techniques, including feature extraction, anomaly detection, forecasting, and pattern recognition in temporal datasets.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis from manufactured products, including IoT-enabled devices, embedded systems, or production line equipment
