Applied Research Solutions has an exciting new opportunity for a Systems Engineer located at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), FL in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF) Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L). Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
  • Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance
  • Certifications: DAWIA Practitioner (formerly Level II), Equivalency in the Program Management, Engineering & Technical Management, or Test & Evaluation fields, or ability to attain within 6 months of hire with approved customer deferral
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
  • Years of Experience: 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs
  • Additional Experience: Demonstrated expertise in multidisciplinary engineering principles, design, and program management, including the application of advanced scientific, environmental, and state-of-the-art technologies to system planning, development, operation, maintenance, repair, modernization, and upgrade efforts.
  • Proficient in preparing, interpreting, and communicating engineering concepts and technical documentation, including test plans, acquisition reviews, and working drawings using CAD and related graphical systems; skilled in researching, developing, testing, evaluating, and supporting procurement and production of maritime craft and subsystems while ensuring compliance with DoD 5000.02 and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong capability to plan and coordinate engineering and maintenance programs, manage budgets and financial controls, support strategic planning and program improvement, and apply contracting principles and project-management tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, MS Project) to effectively guide complex acquisition, engineering, and organizational initiatives.

  • Education: Master's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
  • Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
  • Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, and projects.
  • Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
  • Support government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
  • Provides advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
  • Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval.
  • Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort.
  • Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
  • Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
  • Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
  • Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
  • Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Provides expert level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
  • Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
