About The Position

PeopleTec is seeking a talented System Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL . In this hands-on technical role, you will support the design, automation, deployment, and maintenance of mission-critical server infrastructure for our government customers. You'll apply your expertise in Linux, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform & Ansible), and containerization (Docker) to help ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations in a dynamic, cleared environment. Requirements

3+ years of experience administering and engineering Linux environments (RHEL and Ubuntu)
Experience writing Terraform configurations for virtual machine deployment in vCenter.
Experience creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks for multi-OS server configuration and automation.
Solid experience with Docker for containerization, application deployment, and management.
Experience with Windows Server administration and PowerShell scripting.
Troubleshooting skills across OS, virtualization, networking, and performance issues.
Familiarity with security hardening practices (STIGS, vulnerability scanning)
Good communication and collaboration skills in a team oriented, customer-facing environment.
Occasional travel (0-25%)
Must be a U.S. Citizen
An active DoD TS/SCI clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to get a TS/SCI level of clearance during their employment.

Nice To Haves

Experience creating Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for automation.
Knowledge of monitoring tools, database services (installation/monitoring), and web services
Experience in DoD/government environments and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

Support the implementation and optimization of server solutions while working closely with the team.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision and manage virtual machines in vCenter environments
Create and maintain Ansible playbooks for automated configuration and hardening of Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows servers
Implement and manage containerized workloads using Docker
Perform hands-on installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Linux/Windows server OS, hardware, and associated technologies

Apply security best practices including STIG compliance, server hardening, vulnerability management, and secure configuration
Monitor server performance, identify potential issues proactively, and implement improvements for reliability and scalability
Troubleshoot infrastructure problems, coordinate changes, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
Document systems, processes, configurations, and participate in After Action Reviews to capture and share best practices
