About The Position

Under the direction of the IT Director, the Systems Engineer is a senior technical contributor responsible for the reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement of New Freedom’s IT systems. This hands-on role provides advanced technical expertise, leads and executes complex systems initiatives, serves as a primary escalation point, mentors Systems Support staff, and translates organizational needs into effective technical solutions—reducing reliance on leadership by owning initiatives from execution through completion.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior escalation point for complex, cross-system technical issues, independently diagnosing and resolving problems across systems, applications, identity, networking, and security
Perform root cause analysis on recurring or high-impact incidents and recommend long-term corrective and preventive solutions
Support, maintain, and enhance Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, OneDrive) and identity/access management platforms
Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure, including networking, firewalls, endpoints, and security systems
Lead and execute IT projects from planning through implementation and stabilization, coordinating timelines, dependencies, and stakeholders
Contribute to system upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery planning/testing, and other infrastructure initiatives in partnership with IT leadership
Develop, improve, and support internal tools, automation, and light applications that enhance IT operations, reporting, and efficiency
Mentor and support Systems Support Technicians through hands-on guidance, documentation standards, knowledge sharing, and consistent escalation practices
Performing additional duties as assigned to support our mission.
