About The Position

The Systems Engineer plays a key role in scoping, designing, implementing, and supporting IT infrastructure solutions for a diverse client base. This is a client-facing role at an IT Value-Added Reseller (VAR). The ideal candidate brings technical depth in servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and security, combined with strong consulting skills and the ability to align technical solutions with business objectives. The role requires working across multiple departments and vendors to ensure a consistent client experience from pre-sales scoping and solution design to implementation and post-deployment support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering, Consulting, or Technical Implementation role; relevant experience at a VAR, MSP, or IT services firm is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record designing and deploying infrastructure solutions in a customer-facing capacity.
  • Experience across a wide range of technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, hyperconvergence, backup solutions, storage platforms, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, operations, and networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting enterprise IT systems.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting (PowerShell, etc.) and relevant automation practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of client stakeholders including IT professionals, department heads, and executives.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to distill technical information into business-relevant insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and face-to-face communication skills.
  • Business acumen and emotional intelligence to guide decision-making with clients.
  • Candidates must reside in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area or be within reasonable commuting distance to Ardham’s offices.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background and employment verification checks.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to understand business goals and technical requirements.
  • Design and implement IT infrastructure solutions including servers, storage, virtualization, backup, cloud, and related security technologies.
  • Deploy Microsoft-based systems (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory) with additional exposure to nix and Apple environments; Deploy a range of virtualization, hyperconverged, cloud, and storage solutions from a variety of mainstream manufacturers.
  • Lead technical implementation of projects and perform hands-on setup, configuration, and validation of solutions.
  • Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) during client discovery sessions.
  • Partner with account managers to create and present solution proposals that align with client objectives.
  • Provide product comparisons, recommendations, and licensing guidance to support technical and financial decision-making.
  • Support clients by responding to service requests, troubleshooting issues, and documenting solutions.
  • Support the team-at-large by collaborating and accepting support escalation.
  • Anticipate potential problems in client environments and recommend proactive improvements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records in the ticketing system for time tracking, billing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Follow industry frameworks and vendor guidelines to implement best practices in system design, backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.
  • Assist in documenting and standardizing engineering processes and deployment practices.
