MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Systems Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role in these work areas: Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems Provide engineering support for the systems administrator for systems issues that have been escalated and communicate status to agency management Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during infrastructure buildouts Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projects Develops solutions to a variety of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity Perform systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end Oversees moderately complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis Performs continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology Conduct system requirements reviews Develop Systems architectures

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • Experience: 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX operating systems
  • Understanding of Project Lifecycle Management
  • Understanding of Configuration Management
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prior Real-time operations/systems experience
  • Ability to compose functional requirements/specifications documents.
  • Ability to guide the selection, implementation, and deployment processes for new technology rollouts.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls (“provide on-call support")
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Level Certifications, including at least one advanced certification from a Cloud Provider
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools
  • Experience with Splunk, Science Logic, Service Now, F5 Load Balancers
  • Familiarity with Network Infrastructure
  • Experience with SQL database queries and troubleshooting
  • Backups (VEEAM, NetBackup, Unitrends)
  • Scripting and coding experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, GIT)
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure Cloud providers
  • Familiarity with security baselines (i.e. CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization
