About The Position

Technica Corporation is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, self-directed individual to fill the Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) Systems Engineer position. The Systems Engineer will support the deployment, integration, and operational readiness of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware and software products. This position will play a key role in testing the solution, coordinating integration efforts among multiple technical teams, and ensuring a seamless transition into production. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving. This engineer will support the Solution Architect and collaborate closely with networking, server, security, and application teams to ensure the system is thoroughly documented, securely implemented, efficient, and aligned with mission objectives.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another relevant IT field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of extensive technical experience across networking, servers, virtualization, identity management, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of DoD Instruction 8551.01 Ports, Protocols, and Services Management, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server environments and virtual machine platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts.
  • Working knowledge of authentication and identity services, specifically DoD PKI/PKE implementations.
  • Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, and integration concepts.
  • Understanding of DoD’s Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and artifacts, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate with specialized teams to resolve them.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and “roll up your sleeves” to drive tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and validation of COTS products in test and production environments.
  • Coordinate integration activities and qualification testing with cross-functional teams, including networking, compute and storage infrastructure, physical and virtual systems, identity and access management, and application owners.
  • Assess system requirements, dependencies, and integration points to verify compatibility and readiness for operation.
  • Understand, communicate, support, and coordinate activities including; Networking—such as ports, protocols, firewalls, and load balancers—as required for system connectivity and certification.
  • Compute tasks such as server and virtual machine provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning.
  • Database - work with database teams to configure, query, and troubleshoot database server instances.
  • Identity and Access – authentication and authorization mechanisms, including single sign-on, and possessing experience and knowledge with DoD PKI/PKE implementations.
  • Integration - work with APIs and integration frameworks to facilitate data exchange and system interoperability.
  • Assist in preparing documentation in accordance with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and as required for system accreditation, compliance, and security assessments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, configuration baselines, and operational procedures.
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and issue resolution throughout testing, qualification, and deployment phases.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical considerations clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
