Your Opportunity with ECG: Systems Engineer As a systems engineer at ECG, you'll provide support and administration for ECG's cloud-based infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and providing ongoing support for cloud-based infrastructure and Microsoft 365 services to our consultants. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure reliable performance, security, and optimization of cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of progressive experience working within a hybrid or cloud-based environment
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Azure, AWS, other cloud services, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, identity services (e.g., Entra), infrastructure as code, server and network virtualization
  • Three or more years' networking administration and infrastructure experience in an SMB environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in supporting an Ethernet/wireless/VoIP or unified communications infrastructure
  • Bachelor's degree in computing science, computer information systems, or engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to analyze, solve, and debug complex technical issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to perform effectively on a team
  • Good project management and documentation skills
  • Available to work the occasional weekend and/or evenings for planned implementation and maintenance
  • Up to 10% domestic travel; occasional in-office attendance required
  • Remote, but lives within 30 miles of any ECG office (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Diego, St. Louis, or Washington, DC)
  • Full time/exempt

  • Experience with Bicep, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with network and infrastructure vendors
  • Experience with SQL Server and SharePoint is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Foundry AI is a plus
  • Understanding of and experience with network, server, and application security; HIPAA experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assisting senior systems engineers with the administration and maintenance of the ECG cloud environment.
  • Maintaining ECG's cloud-based infrastructure, including Windows and Linux server environments, Entra, Group Policy, certificate services, DNS, DHCP, and Azure update service.
  • Working with ECG business units to identify business requirements and implementing cloud-based solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Maintaining legacy AD and Entra-based user accounts and PowerShell, runbooks, and Power Apps.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Azure-based resource costs.
  • Administering and supporting the Exchange environment.
  • Assisting in identifying and containing security-related events, incident response procedures, and ensuring systems conform to security best practices.
  • Providing tier 2 and 3 escalation and support for Azure and network infrastructure.
  • Maintaining and performing backup and recovery of ECG cloud resources.
  • Maintaining and regularly applying software upgrades and security updates to all cloud compute resources and network infrastructure.
  • Working with vendors and other partners on cloud resource and network implementations, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Maintaining current and accurate system documentation and operating procedures related to network, backup and recovery, and cloud resources.
  • Promoting system reliability and efficiency by implementing system standards and operational best practices.
  • Maintaining a monitoring system for high availability and reliability, responding appropriately based on alert levels, and analyzing utilization trends (Azure Monitor, SNMP, Meraki).
  • Performing root cause analyses of problems, recommending solutions, and implementing corrective measures to minimize future downtime and document procedures.
  • Updating job-related knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, including training and technical conferences, professional organizations, etc.
  • Adhering to published IT support service-level agreements.
