About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s core infrastructure systems, including VMware virtualization platforms, Windows Server environments, on‑premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and other critical infrastructure services. Key responsibilities include system installation, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, configuration, performance monitoring, performance tuning, utilization reporting, and capacity planning across the organization. The role also encompasses executing infrastructure projects, implementing security practices and compliance requirements, conducting risk assessments, and developing and documenting corrective actions, project plans, and system configurations. Additionally, this position provides technical guidance and support to other IT team members.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Information Technology/Systems, Computer Science and 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware (vSphere/ESXi) virtualization technologies and storage area networks.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi hosts, clusters, storage configurations, virtual networking, security hardening, and physical hardware.
  • Perform VM provisioning, resource allocation, performance tuning, and lifecycle updates (patching, upgrades, migrations).
  • Monitor storage/virtualization health and capacity, ensuring high availability and stability.
  • Maintain VMware and SAN backups, recovery processes, replications, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Troubleshoot storage, ESXi host and VM-level issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Windows Server Administration
  • Deploy, configure, and support Windows Server operating systems (2016/2019/2022/2025).
  • Manage core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, NPS, IIS, file shares, DFS, and server hardening.
  • Perform patch management, system updates, and compliance reporting.
  • Maintain system backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Active Directory (On-Premises)
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory domains, domain controllers, group policies, sites and services, and OU structure.
  • Implement identity security best practices (privileged access, password policies, service accounts, certificates).
  • Support authentication/authorization issues, replication troubleshooting, and domain resiliency improvements.
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Support conditional access, MFA, identity governance, and cloud-based authentication policies.
  • Manage application SSO integrations and enterprise app registrations.
  • Monitor and support identity security posture using Entra ID tools.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and other M365 platforms.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Participate in infrastructure/application projects, deployments, upgrades, migrations, and security initiatives.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Highly self-motivated, self- directed, and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products. Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under time constraints to meet project deadlines.
  • Create and maintain documentation including diagrams, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with Security, Networking, Helpdesk, and Application teams to support business needs.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for escalations involving servers, systems, and virtualization.
  • Requires On-Call availability for support escalation.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a clean DMV record.
  • Ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from management, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and planning of the organization’s technology architecture and oversee the implementation of hardware and software infrastructure.
  • Develop and oversee the organization’s technology architecture, playing a key role in shaping the vision and direction of the company’s future technology landscape.
  • Ensure infrastructure installations and upgrades are made in accordance with established policies, procedures and software licensing agreements.
  • Identify, implement, and monitor best practices for technology architecture, while providing expert advice on core infrastructure initiatives.
  • Support the day-to-day infrastructure operations as well as the underlying infrastructure of a large data center.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Participate and recommend in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, audits, and enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Interface with other engineers, administrators and project managers within the IT department; takes an active role in determining overall company technology and development strategies and specific strategies for individual projects.
  • Exercise discretion and independent decision-making in IT are necessary to ensure the growth of the credit union in a manner that supports the credit union’s mission and increases the profitability of the organization.
