About The Position

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The Systems Engineer participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure; and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to the Credit Union’s organizational values and goals.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience implementing and supporting enterprise information technology infrastructure required.
  • Must possess knowledge of Windows operating systems, file permissions and inheritance, Windows group policy, Active Directory management, financial industry specific applications, and other client-side applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Must be willing to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
  • Must possess the ability to work with other department supervisors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be results oriented and possess strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid background in server management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently leads new technology projects and becomes primary technical contact for product support, upgrades, etc.
  • Confers and makes decisions on implementation and architecture for new systems and independently works with vendors to implement.
  • Assumes responsibility for certain critical business systems and provides Tier II support for these systems.
  • Analyzes systems for deficiencies and independently decides on fixes and implementation of those fixes using CAB processes and maintenance windows.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Independently reviews system and application logs and verifies completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Makes independent decisions on proactive measures for systems and works to submit changes to the CAB process for those changes.
  • Communicates and coordinates backups and downtime to appropriate people.
  • Expected to independently modify and update backups and systems.
  • Independently prepares operating procedures to ensure maximum productivity and utilization of the computer capacity and resiliency.
  • Independently performs windows and application troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems.
  • Collaborates with others about problems such as equipment performance, output quality, and maintenance schedule.
  • Independently works with third party vendors to test new and modified programs, executes commands, observes operation, independently makes decisions to correct errors and revises protocols to facilitate data input and eliminate or prevent down time.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned, including but not limited to process/task improvement through scripting and documentation.
  • Installs documents and maintains physical and virtual equipment, including servers, PC's, peripherals, VDI Endpoints, terminals, and wiring.
  • Coordinates installation of hardware and software.
  • Provide backup to other team members in the systems area.
