We are Pathlight Community Services. A non-profit Adult Foster Care organization that provides housing and payee services to hundreds of clients across 5 counties in lower Michigan. Our main offices are located in Ypsilanti and Adrian. We are looking for a passionate systems engineer to support the systems that empower our Direct Care Workers. You aren't just writing code; you are building the tools that help Pathlight Community Services provide essential care for marginalized populations. The Systems Engineer position is a part-time specialized role. You will initially be working in-office for your first 30 days. Familiarizing yourself with our internal systems (primarily Linux with PHP and PostgreSQL) and helping us build the very infrastructure that will allow you to work effectively from home. After you are familiar with the systems, you will primarily be working remote, focused on developing feature requests, creating testing automation, deploying bug fixes, and monitoring system updates of all internal systems. Remote working hours can be negotiated and will not necessarily need to be during standard business hours. What your first few months will look like: Days 1-30: Location: Fully In-Office (Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti). Goal: Direct collaboration with the IT Director to familiarize yourself with our systems, our cause, and our staff. Days 30-60: Location: Hybrid (4-8 hours fully remote; remainder in-office). Goal: Assist IT Director in creating a remote-friendly testing/development environment. Begin executing feature requests and bug fixes. After 60 days: Location: Majority Remote (flexible hours) with one "Collaboration Day" in-office per week. Goal: Ownership of the development lifecycle.
