About The Position

The Systems Engineer will serve as the primary internal IT support resource for all Shield employees, ensuring a seamless, secure, and efficient technology experience across the organization. This role is responsible for day-to-day IT operations including device and mobile device management (MDM), user access provisioning, onboarding and offboarding, application support, and technical troubleshooting, as well as administration and optimization of core internal platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, and other SaaS applications. This is a remote role with travel requirements of approximately 10% for company meetings

Requirements

  • Generalist Mindset: A "jack of all trades" approach with the ability to pivot quickly between hardware support, cloud administration, and network troubleshooting.
  • M365 Proficiency: Deep experience managing Microsoft 365 tenants, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • MDM Expertise: Hands-on experience with modern endpoint management tools (ABM or Microsoft Intune) for both macOS and Windows environments.
  • Identity & Access Management: Solid understanding of IAM principles, including SSO, SAML, and SCIM provisioning.
  • Security Focus: Knowledge of security best practices for remote-first environments, including disk encryption, MFA enforcement, and EDR monitoring.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering a seamless and supportive experience for all team members.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure/AWS) and how they integrate with internal business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Systems Management: Take ownership of the day-to-day administration and optimization of core internal platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, and other SaaS applications.
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal technical support requests, providing high-touch assistance for hardware, software, and connectivity issues across a distributed team.
  • MDM & Endpoint Security: Monitor and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions to ensure all company assets are compliant, patched, and secured.
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage the full lifecycle of employee hardware and software, from automated onboarding and provisioning to secure offboarding and asset recovery.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Configure and respond to alerts within internal systems to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks or service interruptions.
  • Process Automation: Identify opportunities to automate manual IT workflows, such as access requests and system integrations, to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive internal knowledge base, creating clear documentation for both technical workflows and employee-facing self-service guides.
