Systems Engineer

About the position

This position is part of the team maintaining the Linux and IBM iSeries platforms. Primary responsibilities will be supporting the Ansible automation system and Linux platform. It requires sharp attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, activity coordination, and the ability to manage high project volume with intense prioritization. This includes day-to-day maintenance, monthly patching, automation, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Helps define server/network requirements and participates in the development of long-range infrastructure plans.
• Performs repetitive server maintenance tasks.
• Works with application software and lines of business end users.
• Troubleshoots server issues and performs server hardware and software patch management according to detailed departmental or vendor instructions.
• Develops and executes test cases and scripts.
• Documents work performed and procedures for administration.
• Acts as a vendor liaison for assigned systems/platforms.
• Follows change control procedures and submits PCFs for planned changes.
• Works with Technology, Project Management Office and lines of business partners.
• Supports specific components of a larger project or support initiative.
• Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant and proven work experience in an enterprise environment.
• Functional knowledge of RHEL and Insight Manager.
• Ansible experience preferred.
• Solid troubleshooting skills including OS updates, software installation, remote access and administration, log analysis, networking, and more.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to use general office equipment.
• Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• A minimum of 2 years of technology related experience.
• Excellent knowledge of end user devices and basic understanding of networking, troubleshooting and reporting tools.
