About The Position

The primary focus of this position is systems architecture and infrastructure engineering. The role requires expertise in systems administration and architecture along with foundational programming ability. The role contributes to the design of future architecture in addition to evaluating and integrating third-party solutions for hardware, software, and workflow for maintenance of operations across a multi-site world-class facility.

Requirements

  • proven technical experience in a related field of information technology
  • experience with Linux shell scripting (or another scripting language)
  • SAN/NAS Storage Administration (StorNext/Quantum or other)
  • intermediate to advanced Linux administration
  • Must be flexible and able to multitask between numerous and diverse tasks.
  • Team player, also capable of independent work, study, and analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Server and desktop hardware knowledge.
  • Ability to respond after-hours, weekends, and holidays on an on-call basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Linux automation (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Active Directory administration is a plus.
  • Fibre Channel switch administration (Brocade) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as escalation point for desktop and infrastructure teams on resolving more complex problems.
  • Consults with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.
  • Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify the company’s computer systems and programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
  • Design, document, test, create or modify the company’s computer programs related to machine operating systems
  • Effectively communicates with technical, other functional teams, management, and customers.
  • Technical management of physical and virtual systems, including servers and storage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT service issues related to operating systems and servers.
  • Ability to install, configure and monitor Linux (Redhat/CentOS) OS, Windows OS, Mac OS and their applicable software.
  • Writing documentation for the technical support staff on systems-related procedures.
  • Participate in racking equipment when necessary.
