IaaS Systems and Storage & Engineering (ISSE) team is part of the Operations & Infrastructure technology organization. Distributed Compute engineering (DCE) is part of ISSE and Linux engineering is part of DCE. Our vision, mission and purpose are summarized as following: Essential Functions: System Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Unix and Linux systems to support business applications. GPFS Configuration and Management: Expertise in managing, configuring, and deploying IBM's GPFS file system. GPU as a Service and High-Performance Compute Platform Support: Expertise in deploying, managing, and optimizing GPU as a Service (GaaS) and high-performance compute platforms to support advanced computational workloads. Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with network engineers and other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems. Automation: Develop and maintain automation workflows and scripts to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Documentation: Write comprehensive technical design and build documentation, ensuring clear guidelines and processes for the team. Team and Independent Work: Highly motivated, excellent team player, capable of working independently, with strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex issues and mentor junior staff. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Unix and Linux systems to support business applications.
  • Manage, configure, and deploy IBM's GPFS file system.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize GPU as a Service (GaaS) and high-performance compute platforms.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and other IT professionals for seamless integration and operation of systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation workflows and scripts.
  • Write comprehensive technical design and build documentation.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide analytical and troubleshooting support.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.
  • In-depth experience with RHEL 8 9, Rocky 8 9, and/or Ubuntu 18.04 20.04.
  • Ability to configure and administer Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and high-availability storage solutions.
  • Desired experience in Linux Engineering activities, specifically managing SOI (Standard Operating Image) and SOE (Standard Operating Environment).
  • Extensive experience with enterprise-class virtualization technologies including VMware and Openshift virtualization.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux container technology, SELinux, and Docker.
  • Strong deployment experience with HP ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, and/or IBM Power server product lines.
  • Proficient in shell, Python scripting, Groovy, and C# is a plus.
  • Experience with automation and workflow tools such as Ansible, Chef, and BladeLogic is a plus.
  • Expertise in system monitoring techniques and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Satellite Server and Landscape is a plus.
  • Authoritative knowledge in server-end SAN NAS configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Engineering knowledge in TCP IP networking, including link aggregation redundancy, switches, routing, and load-balancing.
  • Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of a technical infrastructure.
  • Provide level 3 support and guide level 2 administrators on problem resolution.
  • RHCE – Red Hat Certified Engineer with Ansible focus.
