About The Position

SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT SME Support mission-critical initiatives and enable the growth of our business as a Solutions Architect SME at GDIT. Here, you’ll become an integral part of how GDIT is able to ensure the safety and security of our nation. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Solutions Architect SME, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of GDIT. The Solution Architect is responsible for providing high‑level technical leadership and architectural oversight in support of Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) implementation and modernization initiatives. This position serves as a primary architectural authority, ensuring that system designs adhere to established enterprise standards and support program objectives. The role oversees complex technical transformations, including infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations, cloud adoption, workload automation transitions, and modernization activities. It also provides guidance to cross‑functional delivery teams, including developers, business analysts, and technical leads, to ensure consistent and high‑quality design documentation and solution delivery. The Solution Architect will contribute to enterprise architecture frameworks and support modularity strategies. The position requires extensive experience across multiple MMIS programs, strong proficiency in application and batch architecture, and the ability to lead modernization efforts involving legacy technologies and modern cloud‑based platforms.

Requirements

  • 20 years of experience working with MMIS systems.
  • 20 years of Requirements Analysis experience supporting complex Medicaid enterprise solutions.
  • 15 years of Application Architecture experience, including leading architecture design, governance, and technical oversight.
  • Enterprise Architecture expertise, including contributions to the Medicaid Enterprise Architecture Framework and state modularity strategies.
  • Infrastructure modernization experience.
  • Strong leadership experience, directing developers, business analysts, and technical leads in design documentation, business processes, and workflow development.
  • Application development leadership, including establishing standards and delivering developer training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred to have background in mainframe technologies (z/OS, COBOL)
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is preferred for senior positions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior‑level technical leadership and architectural oversight for MMIS modernization initiatives.
  • Lead architecture governance activities, including establishing and coordinating Architecture Review Board processes.
  • Direct major infrastructure modernization efforts, including hardware and operating system migrations.
  • Oversee consolidation of multi‑domain environments into a single enterprise domain to support MMIS platform operations.
  • Provide architectural guidance for cloud adoption and migration of MMIS applications to cloud hosting environments.
  • Support development of Medicaid enterprise architecture frameworks and modularity strategies.
  • Guide cross‑functional teams in the development of high‑quality design documentation and adherence to application and business design best practices.
  • Develop strategies for development and testing environments, supporting system readiness and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide mentorship and training to technical and business team members on MMIS architecture and batch development standards.
