THE WORK The Engineer will provide enterprise‑wide operational support for the F‑35 Training System, serving the F‑35 Training System Support Center Problem Coordination Team at Eglin AFB. This role partners with Aeronautics, the Joint Program Office Lightning Support Team, and global F‑35 training centers to ensure system availability, training readiness, and compliance with engineering and information‑assurance standards. By translating customer action reports into engineering solutions, you will directly contribute to the mission‑critical readiness of the F‑35 training enterprise. In this role you will: Provide day‑to‑day operational support for the enterprise‑wide F‑35 environment, ensuring system availability and training readiness. Maintain accurate baselines and enforce change‑control processes. Lead cross‑functional teams to resolve site‑related action reports (ARs). Translate customer needs and mission requirements into actionable engineering solutions. Ensure compliance with system‑engineering processes, the Engineering Development Life Cycle (EDLC), and DoD Information Assurance (IA) standards. Support large‑scale system retrofits and installations, including domestic (CONUS) and international (OCONUS) travel up to 25 % of the time. Requirements

  • Proven Windows administration experience (Win7, Win10, Server2012)
  • Experience with virtualized VMWare environments (ESXi) and VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) Horizon View
  • Experience with network systems administration for Windows systems including virtual desktop/thin client management
  • Troubleshooting experience with hardware or software; understanding of admin guides, O&Ms, etc.
  • Ability to meet DoD 8570 requirements for administrative access to IT systems (typically via Security+ certification)
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels (up / down / parallel)
  • Basic understanding of technical writing principles.
  • Systems engineering familiarity with a solid understanding of all product lifecycle phases.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete assigned tasks involving interaction with multiple other teams.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a DoD secret security clearance with F-35 program access.

Nice To Haves

  • F-35 Training Program Experience with Training System Network Infrastructure (TSNI) and hosted software packages, Training System products, Training Curriculum, and variety of fielded system configurations, and as technology is upgraded
  • Knowledge of F-35 Training System architecture, implementation and infrastructure used to support modification of all elements of the System (including Training Devices)
  • Familiarity with change & configuration management processes and tools used by the F-35 Training organization
  • Familiarity with Classified Systems and Data processes
  • Demonstrated experience as system administrator
  • Ability to coordinate with customers to identify, record, and resolve, and identify root cause of issues/questions, and identify root cause (with knowledge share, workarounds, break-fixes, etc.)
  • Ability to formulate problem descriptions, workarounds and responses in problem reporting systems
  • Ability to create effective metrics and produce reports for stakeholders to formulate training/knowledge share with all end users
  • Current DoD secret clearance with F-35 Program Access
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and PTR process
  • Working knowledge of HPE 3PAR SANs / HPE Greenlake SANs
