Marriott International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Public Cloud to ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and technologies that support core customer-facing and enterprise-facing products and platforms. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert in a complex array of full stack solutions, performing research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems to meet current and future requirements. The engineer will combine both software and systems engineering to build and operate large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems, working closely with engineering, application, and enterprise/solution architects to develop and implement services, monitor, report, and tune infrastructure platforms. Responsibilities also include developing full stack automation and infrastructure as code across Marriott public cloud platforms, providing technical leadership, oversight, governance, and direction for services related to Marriott solution delivery, and training or mentoring team members as appropriate. The position requires identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, developing implementation plans, and working with Enterprise Architecture to provide technology and cloud native service governance.

  • Ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and technologies.

  • Responsible for project inception including requirements gathering and architecting.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to provide technology and cloud native service governance.
  • Promote Marriott International Cloud Platform capabilities.
  • Monitor and drive industry best practice Continuous Delivery principles.
  • Work with MI Security for governance and application of security tooling.
  • Own relationships with tooling and Cloud vendors.
  • Coordinate between onshore/offshore engineering and operations teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in an engineering or computer science discipline followed by 7 years of progressively responsible information technology experience, or a Master's degree and 5 years of information technology experience.
  • 5 years of Linux experience.
  • 5 years of experience with Cloud technologies including IaaS/PaaS/SaaS deployments on Public Cloud.
  • 5 years experience with OS scripting and automation.
  • 5 years experience in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) modeling including infrastructure as code development.
  • 5 years experience in automated configuration management.
  • 5 years experience with cloud computing technology and its concepts.
  • 5 years experience in container operations.
  • 5 years of experience with Orchestration.
  • 4 years of experience operating in an agile scrum environment.
