About The Position

Basic Commerce and Industries, Inc. (BCI) is seeking to fill a full-time Senior Systems Engineer / Navy Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Combat Systems Department (V) department. BCI's areas of expertise include Human Systems Integration/Human Factors Engineering, Interoperability, Training, Operational Systems Safety, and Weapon & Combat Systems Engineering. BCI's work force of employees and consultants includes human factors engineers, operational engineers and former naval officers and enlisted subject matter experts. This position will provide senior level systems engineering and analysis support to the Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer (CIAT) providing direct support to the Lead Baseline Manager who is responsible for the planning, execution and delivery of new CIAT software baselines. This position will work across functional areas within the CIAT program in areas including systems engineering, third party simulation/stimulation capability, hardware and software development, network management, test and evaluation, readiness, sustainment and obsolescence. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that CIAT meets the training needs of the fleet. It involves development of in-depth understanding of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and functionality of current and emerging Combat Systems enhancements, coordination with training staff to understand training approach, and translation of operational training concepts into clear, concise, and verifiable technical requirements that can be understood and implemented by CIAT technical staff. The individual filling this role will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts and engineers assembled to accomplish the tasks listed above. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple assignments under tight deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the BCI team and customers.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have a minimum of 15-20 years civil service or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) experience; US Navy surface warfare experience gained while on active duty senior enlisted or officer, serving on carriers, DDGs, CGs, LCS, large deck or smaller amphibious ships, or land-based test sites, etc.; or some combination of both to meet the 15-20 years' requirement.
Specialized experience is required in managing/maintaining virtualized environments using VMware and experience in such programs as Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Advanced Training Domain, Aegis Combat Training System, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), US Coast Guard or distributed training environments.
Knowledge and proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Powershell, Pyhton, etc.) Linux and Windows operating systems is required.
Advanced writing and speaking abilities a must.
Two (2) years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and understanding of simulation/stimulation systems used for Aegis, Aegis BMD and/or SSDS combat systems testing and training is a plus.
experience with Microsoft Visio is a plus.
A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is a plus.
