Our cutting-edge headquarters in Faribault, MN is partially solar- and wind-powered by our own microgrid! You’ll find that we’re also pushing boundaries across the country at our additional facilities in Troy, MI; Houston, TX; Merrimack, NH; Burnsville, MN; Murfreesboro, TN; Waukesha, WI; & in Montreal, Canada. Together, we are Trystar, where we power the future and nurture innovation for a brighter tomorrow. We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong interdisciplinary skills to lead the design, implementation, and integration of our enterprise-wide digital engineering infrastructure—starting with Empower PLM and expanding to include ERP (Epicor), CPQ, DriveWorks, and Quality Management Systems. This role is central to aligning tools and teams across multiple manufacturing and engineering sites with varying levels of operational maturity. As both a technical problem solver and a cross-functional project driver, you will be responsible for building scalable systems that connect Engineering, Operations, and IT while enabling automation, accuracy, and data consistency throughout the product lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with teams across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines and lead projects that roll out new digital capabilities while maintaining and evolving current systems.

  • System Architecture & Implementation Design and implement scalable system architectures connecting Empower PLM, Epicor ERP, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, OrCAD, DriveWorks, and other tools
  • Create flexible product data models that support both high-mix/high-volume and low-volume/custom workflows
  • Lead technical planning, documentation, and system configuration activities during PLM and tool rollout phases across sites
  • PROJECT & STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION
  • Serve as the primary project owner for cross-functional initiatives—organizing deliverables, milestones, and resources across Engineering, IT, and Operations
  • Define and assign site-specific responsibilities for configuration, validation, and integration
  • Drive alignment and execution across teams with diverse processes, tools, and experience levels
  • ENGINEERING CHANGE & LIFECYCLE GOVERNANCE
  • Own the enterprise-wide Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, ensuring changes are implemented efficiently and with traceability
  • Manage Change Review Board (CRB) operations, documentation standards, and release workflows
  • Ensure that BOMs, drawings, and configurations are well-controlled and production-ready across mechanical and electrical domains
  • CROSS-SITE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
  • Evaluate maturity levels across acquired and legacy sites, then develop custom rollout strategies for tool adoption and integration
  • Tailor training and documentation for site-specific needs while driving toward unified enterprise standards
  • Bridge the gap between IT system configuration and hands-on engineering process needs
  • SUSTAINMENT & FUTURE CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
  • Maintain and improve PLM and automation systems post-rollout, including upgrades, integrations, and enhancements
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal experts to support feature expansions (e.g., CPQ, Bill of Operations automation, QMS integration)
  • Build and document re-usable solutions, workflows, and configuration strategies to accelerate future deployments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in cross-functional engineering roles combining technical solution development with project coordination
  • Demonstrated experience configuring or implementing PLM (e.g., Empower) and ERP (e.g., Epicor) systems
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, DriveWorks, and experience working with both mechanical and electrical CAD systems
  • Ability to understand and translate between disciplines (design, electrical, manufacturing, IT, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; capable of leading complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders and timelines
  • Familiarity with Epicor ERP, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, PDM/EPDM, OrCAD, and DriveWorks
  • Experience in design-to-order and engineer-to-order product environments
  • Experience integrating PLM with CPQ, QMS, or Bill of Operations tools
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, REACH, or similar compliance frameworks
  • PMP and/or PDM/PLM administrator certifications
