About The Position

As a Systems Engineer , you will provide pivotal support to the Mission Systems Architecture (MSA) Integrated Product Team (IPT) within NAVAIR's Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office, PMA-271. The responsibilities include providing technical oversight, development, integration and sustainment of the various mission systems used in the airborne naval nuclear deterrence mission. Providing support to the IPT by capturing, analyzing, decomposing, and designing requirements for large complex mission systems. Reviewing functional, interface, and performance specifications for hardware and software implementation. Continuously assessing and communicating technical risks to cost, scheduling, and/or performance to the system acquisition. Providing technical evaluations support and serving as a subject matter expert (SME) to the IPT. Engaging with NAVAIR Technical Area Experts (TAEs) or SMEs to ensure system design meets all NAVAIR airworthiness requirements. Recommending and assisting with the implementation of new approaches, tools, and techniques based on needs identified in metric and defect trends on current and related programs. This description outlines the general nature and scope of the role. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Proven experience in capturing, analyzing, and decomposing system requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems throughout the entire system lifecycle.
  • Experience collaborating with customers, end users, and both hardware and software design teams.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active DoD Secret with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Communication Systems and/or Mission Systems, preferably high frequency (HF) or very low frequency (VLF) systems.
  • Experience collaborating with system, subsystem, and product teams in the allocation of system level requirements, decomposition into lower-level requirements and design decisions, and resolution of problem reports.
  • You are able to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • You possess professional and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You take a proactive approach to your work and you're able to accomplish tasks with limited guidance and supervision.
