  • Designs and develops systems for marine navigation and instrumentation, including hardware and software components.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Conducts system testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves systems issues in a timely manner.
  • Provides input to design approaches and architecture.
  • Acts as technical reviewer of existing designs and system configurations.
  • Evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations on products, designs and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of products.
  • Evaluates and integrates sensors into new and existing systems to meet customer requirements.
  • Prepares for and conducts design reviews and technical interactions with internal teams and external customers.
  • Provides technical support and training to customers and internal teams.
  • Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.
  • Performs technical analysis of competitive products.
  • Works collaboratively with teams of highly skilled engineers from various disciplines such as electronics, software, firmware and mechanical engineering.
  • Stays updated with the latest advancements in marine navigation, instrumentation and systems engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Electrical, Systems or Marine Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering, preferably in the marine instrumentation industry.
  • Knowledge of marine environments and/or instrumentation technologies.
  • Proficiency in system design, integration and testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Candidate must be a 'self-starter,' a strong team member, and requires only limited supervision.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills and a willingness to proactively collaborate to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Experience in marine robotic (underwater or surface) vehicle hardware interfacing, including mechanics, serial and Ethernet protocols and power and time synchronization.
  • Experience with electrical analyses/test and verification of requirements.
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures.
  • Understanding and experience of one or more of the following: Integrated Navigation Systems and INS (Inertial Navigation Systems), Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) and/or Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), Pressure, CTD and sound speed sensors, Acoustic positioning (USBL, LBL), Sonar, Acoustic communication, Subsea vehicles, Navigation software, post-processing and surveying.
  • Familiarity with software development and programming languages (e.g., C++, Python).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to marine instrumentation.
  • Salary Range: $90,800.00-$121,100.00
