About The Position

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer (Journeyman) to support the Systems Engineering Department (SED) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms, including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program. Program Office: PMA-273 (Naval Undergraduate Flight Training Systems Program Office) is responsible for managing the aircraft, simulators, and associated systems that support the U.S. Navy’s undergraduate pilot training pipeline. Role Focus: Provides engineering and acquisition support to the Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE) in the management of the T-6B Texan II - primary fixed-wing training aircraft. The selected candidate will be responsible for, not limited to: Performs programmatic or technical knowledge identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems; guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems; and employing systems engineering methods and tools in the development of systems.

Requirements

  • Must hold a BA/BS degree in a technical field or scientific field from an accredited college or university
  • Must have three (3) years of recent and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required
  • Have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Fixed-Wing Aviation Experience: familiarity with aircraft systems, flight training operations, or acquisition support for fixed-wing aircraft
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and naval acquisition lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support systems engineering activities related to sustainment, upgrades, and safety of the T-6B Texan II.
  • Monitor system performance, integration and airworthiness
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across NAVAIR, training squadrons, and contractors to ensure fleet readiness and training mission effectiveness.
  • Contribute to risk management, technical documentation, and compliance with acquisition standards.
