About The Position

Zapata Technology is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer, for an onsite position in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, to support the design, integration, and sustainment of the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS). The Systems Engineer will interact directly with system users and mission partners to translate operational requirements into technical specifications, guide system design, and support testing and evaluation activities. This role requires strong problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges and ensure mission success in dynamic operational environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experiences within the last 5 years.
  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, and testing.
  • Ability to translate user requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience in developing and executing test strategies and plans.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with system users and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE, DoD, or ISO standards) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with system users to capture, analyze, and translate operational needs into systems, hardware, and software requirements.
  • Develop system architecture, designs, and specifications that meet user and mission requirements.
  • Participate in the development and execution of test strategies, test plans, and validation/verification activities.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex engineering and system integration issues.
  • Manage and coordinate the resolution of engineering problems within assigned functional areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers, hardware engineers, and program managers to ensure system effectiveness and compliance.
  • Support system documentation, configuration management, and requirements traceability throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Provide technical expertise during design reviews, testing events, and operational assessments.
