EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a Systems Engineer Intern. This position will be located at our Germantown, MD office.
Provide technical support to manage large service provider networks
Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment, and devices
Design, implement, troubleshoot, and manage routing and switching of Enterprise Customers' terrestrial networks
Create, document, and complete system testing to qualify new software releases
Document network diagrams for future reference
Requires monitoring and troubleshooting of platform and OS based problems, network infrastructure and connectivity issues
Currently pursuing a degree in Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
3.0 GPA or above
60 credit hours or more by start of internship, June 2025
Technical knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, Forti OS, API scripting, Wireshark
Knowledgeable in configuration management tools such as Ansible and proven experience with Python to support developing scripts
Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems
Understanding of network infrastructure, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, ARP, VLAN), and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, VPNs, SD-WAN)
Good customer service and communications skills (written and oral)
Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies
Must have the ability to effectively multi-task
Knowledge of Cisco ACI/APIC, VMWare, KVM products is a plus
