About The Position

The Systems Engineer II role at System One focuses on managing and executing patch management and vulnerability assessment processes across enterprise systems. The position requires collaboration with vendors and internal teams to ensure compliance with security policies and effective patch deployment, while also emphasizing continuous improvement and disaster recovery support.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience as a Microsoft systems engineer or in a related position.
  • A 4-year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows and Linux) and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills; experience with VBScript is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Relevant certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, or CVA are preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with additional vulnerability assessment tools like Qualys.
  • Knowledge of SCCM for patch management.
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize vulnerability assessment tools to scan and identify vulnerabilities across enterprise systems.
  • Plan, test, and execute patching strategies for operating systems and third-party applications.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams to coordinate patch activities and resolve issues.
  • Perform research on patches and vulnerabilities, conducting thorough testing in controlled environments.
  • Utilize patching tools and develop PowerShell scripts to automate patch deployment processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation of patch management processes and maintain an inventory of systems.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and generate reports on vulnerability status and patch compliance.
  • Assist in security incident response activities related to vulnerabilities and patch management.
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats and recommend enhancements for system efficiency.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing as it relates to system patching.
