As a diversified, national organization, Centene's technology professionals have access to competitive benefits including a fresh perspective on workplace flexibility. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in our Clayton office with 8am-4pm hours (most days) and occasional travel for special events. Position Purpose: Centene is hiring a Systems Engineer to join our IT–Executive Events team. We’re looking for someone who’s naturally curious, resourceful, and energized by building clever, well‑thought‑out solutions — the kind of person who enjoys making technology work beautifully for people and finding smart ways to elevate an experience. Our team supports the technology behind Centene’s most important meetings and events, and we're known for being collaborative, steady under pressure, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. This role ensures that our meeting spaces, studio, and high‑end production environments run reliably and feel great to use — both for our internal teams and for visiting executives and clients.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science) and requires 2 – 4 years of related experience. Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.
  • 3+ years of experience in AV/IT operations, experience design, or digital media production
  • An inventive, resourceful mindset — someone who can look at a challenge, stay steady, and engineer clever solutions without losing the human touch
  • Strong technical understanding of broadcast production tools and enterprise AV control architectures
  • Working knowledge of studio lighting, audio, camera framing, and automated production systems
  • Experience collaborating with creative teams on production environments
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, confident presence when supporting senior leaders
  • Excellent organization, time management, and self‑direction
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts as needed

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize our event and meeting spaces — from control systems to interactive tools — ensuring everything is always client‑ready through daily “flight checks.”
  • Be involved in our in‑house production studio, keeping lighting, audio, and camera systems calibrated and ready for diverse filming scenarios.
  • Collaborate with creative teams (video, digital learning, design, etc.) to make sure the technical environment supports each project’s storytelling and visual goals.
  • Provide high‑touch, resourceful support for executive meetings, high‑visibility presentations, and special events — including occasional (up to 20%) off‑site travel.
  • Think creatively under pressure, making thoughtful adjustments and engineering smart solutions that keep events running smoothly.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and guide future upgrades to keep our spaces modern, flexible, and inspiring.
  • Manage digital content platforms to ensure all displayed materials are accurate, current, and on brand.
  • Train staff and executives on key systems and produce clear, user‑friendly documentation.
  • Work closely with AV vendors and integrators, ensuring smooth deployments, timely updates, and reliable long‑term performance.

Benefits

  • Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules.
