Textron Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Land Systems team at the Slidell, LA facility. We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering) required; master’s degree in systems Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum six years of experience in a systems engineering or design engineering role required.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills.
  • Customer interfacing and ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to work in teams and independently with minimal direction.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Position requires up to 25%25 travel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DOORS, JIRA, and Cameo/MagicDraw (or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a DoD environment and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) are preferred.
  • Experience in ground vehicle design & development preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support full-life cycle engineering design and development activities on ground vehicle programs.
  • Lead and/or perform requirements analysis, systems modeling (SYSML), trade studies, requirements derivation, design review support, integration planning, test, verification, risk management, and engineering analysis.
  • Using technical acumen and problem-solving skills toward the execution of systems engineering tasks
  • Perform review of engineering work products to ensure technically accurate and quality work products.
  • Prepare and present systems engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers at program milestone reviews.
  • Generate Statements of Work and manage outside contractor performance.
  • Mentor others within the work group, department, and the organization.
  • Generate solid Basis of Estimates and manage Earned Value for design/development cost accounts as Cost Account Manager.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering staff and technicians of all disciplines as required.
  • Ability to interact daily with program managers, planners, and technicians.
  • Drive tasks to completion independently.
