Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Systems Engineers are interested in developing and testing next generation of optical systems. We are seeking a highly qualified Systems Engineer II - P2 to join our SE&TC Systems Engineering Team. An Electro Optical Test engineer designs, develops, and executes test plans for electro-optical (EO) systems and components, focusing on evaluating performance, quality, and reliability through hands-on testing in laboratories and production environments. Key responsibilities include analyzing test data, troubleshooting issues, creating reports, and collaborating with design and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet specifications and standards. This role includes responsibility for engineering activities such as integration, testing and troubleshooting. In addition, the responsible engineer needs to be an effective communicator, decision maker, and a strong advocate for system engineering, integration, and test. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions while working autonomously with limited oversight. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together, supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts. This position requires technical expertise and the ability to make decisions independently to drive the success of complex projects. This is an onsite position at Raytheon in McKinney, Texas.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with system software, system hardware, system requirements and/or test
  • Experience with system hardware/software installation, integration and troubleshooting

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to travel, both domestic and international, to support customer events, with an expected travel requirement not exceeding 25%
  • Experience with C++, Python, MATLAB and/or other programming languages
  • Experience in a rapidly paced and dynamic test environment
  • Experience on a government contract with experience in systems engineering
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or other programing languages
  • Experience with DOORS/Doors Next Gen (DNG), Rhapsody, Cameo, and/or other digital engineering tools
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in real time
  • Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or field environment supporting integration and/or verification to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements
  • Experience presenting technical findings, analyses, and solutions to leadership and customers
  • Experience with scripting
  • Ability to lead dynamic test events
  • Experience using Monte Carlo simulations to model system performance, analyze outcomes, and enhance testing strategies
  • Experience with identifying root causes of system failures through detailed diagnostics, implementing timely fixes to restore functionality, and develop preventative measures to avoid recurrence
  • Experience with Agile principles, to include Agile systems engineering practices and understanding of Agile roles
  • Experience presenting technical findings, analyses, and solutions to leadership and customers
  • Experience in developing testing procedures, reports, and troubleshooting complex systems
  • Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or field environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills as well as good collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment and directly interface with customers and management across multiple disciplines
  • Create and Decompose requirements, define system interfaces and help determine how requirements will be validated and verified by the test team
  • Support system performance analysis, Integration and Test
  • Conduct tests on optical and electrical components and integrated systems, collect test data, and analyze results to optimize performance
  • Identify and resolve issues during testing, support system design enhancements, and provide troubleshooting and calibration for ongoing and specialized programs
  • Perform integration, verification, and validation testing/reporting to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements
  • Document test results by creating and presenting comprehensive test reports to various stakeholders
  • Provide engineering support for the execution of a portion of the programs test program including test processes and baseline definition and test architecture design
