About The Position

S3I Engineering provides specialty engineering services, systems integration, and operational support to US Government agencies. Our technical expertise covers multiple facets of the Software, Systems, Cyber, and Hardware Engineering disciplines. Our engineers have expert knowledge of the critical mission management systems and their deployment on various DOD, DHS, and other platforms. S3I is currently looking for entry to mid-level Systems Engineers. You will be working with cutting-edge technology to test complex mission management systems and their sensors. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent years of experience, in Engineering or other technical fields such as Computer Science, Computer Hardware, Mathematics, or Physics. This work requires a DOD Secret clearance. Candidates must meet the criteria to obtain one.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or technical field
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot complex problems involving multiple systems
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance is required
  • Must be able to lift and carry ~40 Lbs
  • Must be able to maneuver in confined spaces
  • Must be able to access various government location, facilities, and vessels
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between office and government facilities

Nice To Haves

  • Strong Computer hardware and software troubleshooting experience using the Linux command line
  • Experience building complex computer systems in a Linux environment
  • The ability to reverse engineer complex systems to aid in testing and diagnostics
  • Familiarity with both DoD and DCSA cybersecurity practices
  • Experience with DoD sensor systems including EO/IR, Radar, SIGINT, and others
  • Experience with the mission systems on one or more DoD platforms
  • Familiarity with using DoD cloud platforms, including IL5 environments and higher
  • Outstanding organizational skills in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Highly articulate communications skills when describing complex software behavior and function
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)
  • Previous Minotaur experience strongly desired
  • Software development experience in a Linux environment
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Git
  • Demonstrated strong software troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of DoD mission systems, sensors, and networks

Responsibilities

  • Supporting testing on aircraft and inside government labs to identify problems and provide fixes while working with the software development team
  • Performing independent investigation to reproduce problems reported in fielded systems
  • Participating in design reviews and providing input on requirements derivation
  • Working directly with government personnel and other partners to provide actionable solutions
  • Working with various teams in different labs to troubleshoot, investigate, and isolate complex problems
  • Working to continually validate and identify gaps in testing methodology
  • Configuring test bench systems to test software requirements
  • Conducting root cause analysis to identify problems
  • Leading, training, and refining software testing events
  • Preparing field test reports and reviewing findings
  • Providing technical guidance to peers
