The primary focus of a Systems Engineer within IT Operations is to participate in projects that support technology growth and innovation. Systems Engineers also provide advanced technical support for all IT systems including server platforms, storage, and other cross-functional capabilities. They develop and implement new solutions, improve existing solutions, and provide a path of escalation for complex or high-risk IT requests.

  • Drive and track assigned IT projects.
  • Complete tasks in a timely and quality fashion.
  • Adhere to and develop implementation, quality control, and change control standards.
  • Keep IT management apprised of risks to project success.
  • Adhere to and develop documentation standards.
  • Document all project work Systems Support.
  • Available as needed for escalation of critical support incidents.
  • Monitor and complete tickets in assigned queues.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance.
  • Keep IT management apprised of critical issues.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations regarding service delivery improvements.
  • Identify and close any gaps in the existing documentation of the infrastructure.
  • Assist in policy, security, and compliance documentation efforts.
  • Research technical concepts and educate other team members as needed.
  • Present research /proposed projects to IT management.
  • Participate in technology evaluations.
  • Provide expertise in application integration, design, security, reliability.
  • Collaboration with other design teams within IT.
  • High aptitude for business understanding and proactive application of technical solutions to business challenges.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in annual Performance Plan.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5+ years of proven technology integration experience.
  • Experience with multiple technologies, processes, and environments with a proven ability to execute engineering projects.
  • Subject matter competency in areas such as Microsoft servers, Linux/Unix systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, storage, and information security.
  • Ability to manage situations of a catastrophic failure or of high risk and critical nature and the ability to collaborate with team members and IT management.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact and facilitate initiatives with vendors and third parties.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated results orientation, initiative, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
