We are seeking a knowledgeable Systems Engineer to support the establishment of a new, air-gapped Privileged Access Management (PAM) solution. The ideal candidate will play a critical role as part of the PAM team in the build phase of the system, assisting with the implementation, integration, and security accreditation efforts, while also developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent operations and compliance. This role will have significant involvement in the security Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) process, including direct support to security control implementation, testing, and documentation required for Authority to Operate (ATO). Expect approximately 40-50% of effort dedicated to A&A activities during initial buildout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Security+ certification, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in systems engineering or related field, with a focus on security and compliance.
  • Experience with security control implementation, testing, and documentation for federal A&A processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise-level system architecture and design principles.
  • Knowledge of PAM concepts, including privileged account management, session monitoring, credential vaulting, just-in-time access, and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Proven experience supporting new system implementations and contributing to build phases.
  • Experience building and documenting SOPs for systems or processes.
  • Familiarity and experience with PAM technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • CISSP or related/equivalent security certifications.
  • Familiarity with O&M best practices and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSP), Risk Assessment Reports, and POA&Ms in support of ATO efforts.
  • Supporting Security Control Assessor engagements by providing technical demonstrations and evidence artifacts.
  • Implementing and documenting security controls.
  • Coordinating with Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) and System Owner throughout the assessment lifecycle.
  • Supporting the build-out of a new PAM system including system architecture design, configuration, and deployment processes.
  • Providing O&M support as the system transitions from the build phase into production, ensuring effective and efficient operation.
  • Engaging in troubleshooting and resolution of system-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Developing, documenting, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the operation and management of the PAM solution.
  • Generating and maintaining technical documentation related to system architecture, configuration, and security compliance.
