The Systems Engineer (FMS Aegis Safety) position at BCI involves providing specialized Warfare System and System Safety Engineering support for the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) System Safety Program. The role requires a proactive individual who can effectively communicate complex technical issues and work both independently and collaboratively within a team. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing and assessing safety risks associated with combat systems, particularly those related to AEGIS and other naval systems.

  • Provide technical, operational, and engineering support for the systems and software engineering team.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of Navy and Joint combat and weapon systems, including AEGIS.
  • Participate in engineering and safety reviews.
  • Formulate, evaluate, and edit risk assessment studies and analyses.
  • Prepare reports and briefs, and present materials to formal boards including WSESRB.
  • Analyze and formulate System Safety Plans and Safety Management Plans.
  • Assess hardware and software changes/issues affecting systems safety.
  • Analyze safety test documentation/plans.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, scientific, business or technical discipline, or military operational experience at the E5 level or higher.
  • 10+ years of general operational experience in systems engineering for DoD weapon systems programs, or a combination of US Navy, civil service, or industry experience.
  • Experience with Combat Systems or Operations related to AEGIS, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), or Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) is required.
  • Two years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Two years of qualified experience in combat systems engineering and systems safety is desired but not required.
