Collins Aerospace is seeking a systems engineer co-op student to join our Electric Power Systems department in Rockford, IL. This exciting opportunity is designed for students who are eager to learn more about the aerospace industry while completing their degree. As a co-op student, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and engage in meaningful work that aligns with your university curriculum. This full-time position will run from May/June to December, including the Fall semester, and it is expected that students will take a semester off from coursework to fully immerse themselves in this working mentorship opportunity. In this role, you will apply your fundamental knowledge to immediate system engineering tasks as identified by the System Lead Engineer. You will engage in various system engineering practices covering the entire system lifecycle, including requirements engineering, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and project management. You will also be responsible for preparing and publishing necessary project documents involved in the specification, design, testing, and deployment of software. Participation in project discussions, walk-throughs, reviews, and inspections will be a key part of your responsibilities, allowing you to contribute effectively to the team. This co-op position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in system requirements capture, modeling in MatLab, system-level test procedure development, and change management. You will also learn about system-level qualification verification efforts, all while working alongside experienced engineers who will guide you throughout your co-op experience. This role not only allows you to contribute to ongoing projects but also serves as a potential pathway for future employment with Collins Aerospace.
