About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our national intelligence program in Northern Virginia that delivers engineering, application development, deployment, operations, upgrades and sustainment of products and services to achieve our client’s global missions. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in creating and optimizing applications for Linux operating systems as well as systems integration within a Linux based virtualization stack.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to obtain a Poly.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience or PhD with 3 years relevant experience).
  • 4 years experience may be used in lieu of a Degree.
  • Vendor Certified Administrator or Linux Professional Institute LPC-1
  • Proven work experience as a Linux Engineer.
  • Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with load balancing and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of servers and switches.
  • Strong grasp on configuration tools, network tools, service tools, and virtualization technologies.
  • This Position requires an Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain a Poly, US Citizenship is required to hold this clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly clearances.
  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Vendor Certified Engineer
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platform technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with big data tools such as Elasticsearch, Splunk, NiFi, Kafka, etc.
  • Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies for iterative development.
  • Strong familiarity with NoSQL/SQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Experience working with REST APIs, including secure transport methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
  • Expertise in Microservices Architecture, Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
  • Containerization experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and AI/ML concepts to support advanced data processing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers, project managers, and cross-functional development teams to gather and define requirements, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  • Design, develop, and optimize applications and systems integration for Linux operating systems, including processing-intensive analytics, manipulation of large data sets, real-time systems, and business management platforms.
  • Streamline and secure applications, storage, and physical servers.
  • Provide detailed input into system design, including hardware/software trade-offs and software reuse strategies, optimizing system-level and individual component functionality.
  • Develop and execute test cases to ensure the functionality and performance of the system integration.
  • Install, troubleshoot, configure and resolve issues with Linux operating systems performance.
  • Create and optimize applications for Linus operating systems.
  • Analyze business requirements to determine technology needs and stay cognizant of new technology, trends and innovations to continually improve system performance.
  • Apply advanced software engineering methodologies to develop, integrate, and support enterprise-level operational environments.
  • Develop, implement and maintain processes, procedures, test cases, test results, issue resolutions, and performance analysis, and user guidelines/ instructions documentation.
  • Create and modify scripts to automate tasks in the Linus environment.
  • Travel : Travel may be required within the National Capital Region (NCR) on an as needed basis for customer or corporate requirements.
