About The Position

Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities and safely deploy such a robotaxi solution. The System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team plays a foundational role in the company's success, responsible for constructing the safety case and fail-operational design for our autonomous driving robots before public road deployment. You will be part of an organization with strong leadership and a transparent, respectful culture that enables you to reach your full potential. In this role, you will:

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or a relevant technical field
  • At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering, verification, and validation, or a related role
  • Experience with the development and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong systems-level thinking and the ability to understand and navigate complex technical systems
  • Ability to grapple with ambiguity and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Experience with requirements and test traceability tools such as Polarion, Jama, DOORS, or TestRails
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with simulation environments and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Experience with quantitative risk assessments
  • Familiar with AB Dynamics test equipment
  • Experience with Linux Systems, OxTS
  • Familiarity with scala

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute efficient simulation and structured test plans for our autonomy systems, with a focus on perception and sensor performance and how those impact the resulting system driving behavior.
  • Analyze and triage pipeline results that contribute to key launch blocking metrics for software and system releases.
  • Evaluate and characterize the performance of new autonomy sensors and hardware as they are integrated into the Zoox vehicle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, systems engineers, simulation developers, and safety experts, to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and refine test methodologies to ensure comprehensive coverage of our autonomy system's operational design domain.
  • Communicate test results and analysis to stakeholders, contributing to the overall safety case and fail operational design for our robotaxi.
