Are you ready to lead transformative change at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)? NGA’s Enterprise Engineering and Architecture Group is seeking a mission-driven Systems Engineer to partner with the Financial Management (FM) Organization in a high-impact role shaping the future of government financial systems. This is your opportunity to bring engineering excellence, digital innovation, and strategic thinking to one of the most critical missions in national security. Join a team focused on elevating FM’s digital capabilities, optimizing workflows, and modernizing systems through world-class systems engineering practices.

  • Capture the As-Is: Document current FM architecture, requirements, and data/information flows.
  • Design the To-Be: Provide engineering thought leadership to define and build the future-state FM architecture.

  • Modernize Processes: Lead business process re-engineering activities, modeling end-to-end workflows and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Partnering with enterprise engineering teams (Architecture, Requirements, Configuration Management, and more) to introduce systems engineering rigor, tools, and governance to FM.
  • Capturing and baselining FM requirements (e.g., data, dashboards, reports) and architecture (systems, interfaces).
  • Leading enterprise coordination for Requests for Change (RFCs) to formalize FM baselines.
  • Supporting the design and documentation of the To-Be FM architecture and roadmap, including authoring Solution Epics and developing modernization schedules.
  • Creating FM use cases and mission threads to drive future-state architecture.
  • Supporting FM risk management and mitigation planning related to architecture transformation.
  • Collaborating with FM teams and Data SMEs to enhance FM data architecture, data flows, and ontology development.
  • Ensuring alignment with NGA’s Chief Data Office and enterprise data governance practices.
  • Participating in Agile Digital Engineering PI Planning and technical exchange meetings (TEMs).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field, or 6+ years of relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
  • 6+ years of experience in database management or Big Data analysis in a government or industry setting.
  • Proficiency in developing architecture artifacts using DoDAF standards (e.g., Service and System views).
  • Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler for architecture development.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes such as Requirements development, Use Case creation, CONOPS and/or Epic development, Risk, Configuration, and Schedule Management.
  • Exposure to or knowledge of Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
  • Experience with Business Process Engineering.
  • Familiarity with the NGA RFC process.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Training or certification in SAFe Agile methodologies.
  • Additional experience working with DoDAF Architecture Views (Service and System level).
