About The Position

HII is recognized as one of America’s top large company employers and is driven by strong values and ethics that puts people’s safety and well-being first. HII’s Mission Technologies Division develops integrated solutions that enable today’s connected, all-domain force. The Cyber, EW and Space Group provides full-spectrum capabilities that address today’s rapidly changing, multi-domain global security threats and anticipate emerging threats. The Systems Engineer will support the Advanced Space Technology for Range Operations (ASTRO) Phase III program for the Operational Test & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Integrated Program Office (IPO). OTTI provides a series of capabilities (including space and/or ground nodes) that, when brought together, create unique range environments intended to serve specific test and training requirements. The present effort will deliver a prototype system to be used by Orbital Warfare and Electronic Warfare Range Operators to perform Mission Planning, make Range Safety decisions, and enable Range Instrumentation. The Engineer will adopt Model Based Systems Engineering principles and practices to develop a robust model architecture using a variety of tools, to include Cameo Systems Modeler, Power BI, and JAMA. A firm foundation in systems engineering and object-oriented software coding (e.g. Python, C++, MATLAB) is essential for excelling in this position. The Engineer will work directly with subject matter experts to precisely express system behaviors in SysML to facilitate requirements management, interface control definition, and communications across teams, partner companies, and Government stakeholders. The Engineer will assist the Chief Engineer with preparing technical products, integrating efforts across mission partners, and interacting with Government customers. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, along with a proactive approach to pursuing creative solutions for challenging problems.
