About The Position

As a Systems/Electrical Engineer for the Transmit Group (TG), you'll be a member of a small cross functional team responsible for the design, requirements, development, manufacturing, integration, production and life cycle maintenance of active sonar TG onboard all U.S. Navy legacy and emergent submarine classes. TG produces the high energy pulses of sound that travel through the water to identify targets of interest. The TG team works with the Navy, internal production staff and representatives from other companies that provide companion systems and services to ensure TG systems meet all requirements, are delivered on time and function properly both in a laboratory environment and onboard U.S. Navy submarines. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders developing and delivering high power systems and sensors that meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Electro-mechanical manufacturing experience.
  • Power/analog hardware and systems knowledge.
  • Linear amplifier design experience.
  • High speed circuit card design incorporating embedded processors or FPGAs.
  • Acoustics and/or Sonar applications familiarity.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD).

Responsibilities

  • Work with development, system engineering, and production teams to accurately identify, characterize, resolve, document, and track hardware deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve transmit group hardware issues in the system integration and test, production, and power lab environments.
  • Contributes to technical presentations, electrical work products, electrical requirements/designs/concepts and written communications to explain issues to program management.
  • Create, review, and execute hardware design documentation such as interface control drawings, assembly drawings, test procedures, and other technical documents.
  • Research and develop product specifications and interface requirements.
  • Resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design issues.
  • Evaluate components to determine performance impacts to existing designs.
