This position involves researching, planning, and designing galvanometer related products and systems. Under general supervision, this role participates in directing and coordinating activities related to the development, fabrication, operation, application, and repair of opto-mechanical products and systems. While the position is based in Londonderry, NH, up to 10% travel may be required to customer locations and other Thorlabs sites.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in engineering design and troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge on SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Strong proficiency in MS office and communication tools.
  • Excellent statistical data analysis and problem solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of electrical design tools Altium or similar knowledge of embedded programming, python or similar scripting
  • Effectively reports progress and problems through written or oral reports.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and analyzing data such as customer design proposals and specifications to determine the feasibility of design or application.
  • Designing products that vary in complexity from single-piece components to complex systems.
  • Designing and troubleshooting electrical, optical and mechanical subsystems.
  • Creating and modifying software and embedded programs.
  • Developing performance and quality verification automations.
  • Supporting specials, OEM, and standard e-commerce product development.
  • Working with test apparatus, lab equipment, and developing methods & procedures for testing.
  • Collaborating with Production Technicians and R&D to diagnose and troubleshoot systems.
  • Directing, coordinating, and document applications development, and customer specific activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Being responsible for data entry, document revision, and control in the Thorlabs ERP system.
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
