About The Position

The Systems Design Engineer designs a complete and complex framework, system or product and defines processes for technical platforms. This includes working with stakeholders and implementation of products, features and technologies. This role focuses on ultrasonic flow sensing solutions for data center applications, optimized for high-volume, low-cost mass production. The engineer will work collaboratively across disciplines from conceptual design through commercialization, including sensor hardware and firmware optimization, flow calibration, and field installation support. This role will be crucial in supporting our Data Center initiative through cooling and flow measurement applications

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Hardware Knowledge: Experience with microprocessors, mixed-signal ICs, and high-frequency magnetics.
  • Defining and developing system level test plans based on requirements gathering.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis tools, Matlab / Python / Simulink, etc. for the analysis of test results.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and industry safety regulations for ruggedized data center environments.
  • Strong problem-solving for debugging complex electronics.
  • Ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership within a cross functional team
  • Working closely with customer technical and project personnel
  • Handles both external and internal stakeholder requirements for new products / features / technology developments
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
  • Develops system specifications and formalized representations of solutions (for example, flow charts, models) to develop systems that meet customer needs
  • Systems Architecture development with roadmaps to increase feature sets, reduce cost, pursue integration opportunities and increase quality
  • Leads internal Sensata sub system design teams to refine implementation of products / features / technologies & specifications to ensure they meet stakeholder’s needs
  • Work with Embedded Software and Hardware engineers to integrate core sensing technologies for flow sensing performance.
  • Define and develop system requirements based on industry standards, customer specifications, and application knowledge.
  • Lead the development of Design Validation Testing (DVT) plans, provide critical system input to Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and coordinate the execution of DVT testing.
  • Collaborate with SME’s on thermal and fluid analysis, and work with engineering technicians to develop, and test performance of sensors to meet real world application requirements.
  • Work with mechanical designers and vendors to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of cooling infrastructure components.
  • Work with Software and Hardware engineers on integration debug, development, and testing.
