About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Systems Controller – Range Communications to support the Space Force Range contract. Key Responsibilities Provides specialized Communications Subsystems support to the Eastern Range during launch, simulations, pre-tests, post-tests and non-test periods Conducts pre-test briefings and post-test critiques for minor scheduled operations Reviews range schedules in advance to ensure required instrumentation and customer requirements can be met for the respective Subsystem Reviews facility power, Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI), and other downtime activity requests and assists in determining impact, coordination, and approval of requests Schedules Communications outages with Range Scheduling and ensures REMEDY identifies the appropriate maintenance status for approved outages Creates Communications schedules based on requirements defined within the Eastern Range Schedule Monitors performance and status of all systems utilizing local network management workstations and/or work center reporting, at all times, including pre-launch and launch activities Operates HF Global Communication Systems (HFGCS) terminals to assign antennas, frequencies, and communication with aircraft and vessels for daily and launch mission requirements Assists in the management of daily operations of the appropriate systems during tests and non-test periods and ensures all sites understand procedures during test and simulations Documents all known or suspected system failures, assigns appropriate resources to investigate/repair failure or restore service and ensures all actions are documented professionally and on-time to meet contractual performance metrics Follows up on any actions documented by Planner Controller to ensure appropriate system status calls and response priorities are documented and provided to the appropriate systems personnel Coordinates and acts as liaison when necessary during troubleshooting efforts between multiple systems/sites and locations Recommends changes to operating procedures to improve system performance or operational efficiencies Communicates with personnel to obtain background information to meet operational emergencies and ensure the maximum probability of meeting requirements Vigorously pursue initiatives to improve the quality, efficiencies, and timeliness of Department and contract enterprise solutions, products or services Innovative process improvement oriented ensuring contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods derived from internal and external integrated process team actions Able to quickly develop and integrate contract enterprise Integrated Process Team (IPT) concepts and recommendations to capitalize on Cross Range best practices, efficiencies and standardization May propose, implement, or direct alternate methods to meet service restoration requirements without violating configuration management directives Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • AS Degree in Electronic Technology, or two year technical school, equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight (8) years of related Communications electronic technician or Network Operations Center experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of engineering and electronic theory
  • Technical understanding of Network Topology/Technology
  • Extensive knowledge of Eastern Range Communications Systems, preferred
  • Strong leadership skills to facilitate technical direction to personnel supporting daily and mission operation activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make logical decisions under pressure
  • Ability to work well independently and with team members with limited supervision
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, team-orientated environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and the public
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English utilizing telephone handsets, headsets and handheld microphones
  • The flexibility to work regular non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements or the 24/7 work center requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one

Responsibilities
