The Systems Biology Staff Scientist leads and supports research efforts analyzing high-dimensional omics datasets to uncover molecular and immunological mechanisms underlying infectious diseases. Supports systems biology studies on host-pathogen interactions, leveraging omics data to understand mechanisms of infection and immunity.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with R, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Understanding of immunological and molecular biology concepts.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences with experience working in a research laboratory.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in at least one area and ability to conduct independent research through publication of several technical reports and/or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in systems biology, computational biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 4+ years in systems biology, computational biology, or related discipline.
  • Experience with large biological datasets and statistical modeling.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • ACTIVE SECRET security clearance is preferred.
  • Master's or Ph.D. preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct integrative analyses using transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data.
  • Design and execute experiments investigating host response to infection.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticians and lab scientists.
  • Develop visualizations and models for biological pathways.
  • Publish findings and present to stakeholders.
  • Execute assigned tasks and share findings with other members of the project team.
  • Write reports and publications, and present findings in meetings.
