Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions. Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Architect to lead the technical definition and architecture of our next-generation Lidar sensor products. This role is critical for bridging high-level needs to detailed implementation, serving as the technical authority on system architecture and ensuring stringent performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards are met. You will own the implementation and documentation of both Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) concepts, translating overall product needs into verifiable requirements for cross-functional engineering teams. This is a crucial role requiring knowledge of automotive sensors (Lidar expertise preferable) and a strong background in applicable automotive systems standards.

  • Define, maintain, and own the comprehensive system architecture and all product technical requirements using a formal management tool.
  • Perform architectural decomposition, deriving clear component-level requirements for hardware, software, and optics teams.
  • Develop the Functional Safety Concept (ISO 26262) and the Cybersecurity Concept (ISO/SAE 21434), including necessary safety/security analyses (FMEA, TARA, etc.)
  • Guide and support cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment and successful integration across all interfaces
  • 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Systems Architecture, preferably in the automotive or high-reliability sensor industry.
  • Deep, hands-on technical understanding and experience with Lidar sensor technology and its application in autonomous systems.
  • Expertise in formal Systems Engineering, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), SOTIF (ISO 21448) and Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) standards.
  • Experience with Requirements Management Software (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, JAMA).
  • Familiar with Automotive Product Development phases and milestones for system engineering deliverables.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), such as SysML, UML modeling (e.g. Sparks Enterprise Architect EA), is desirable.
  • INCOSE CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional), AFSP (Automotive Functional Safety Professional) certifications, preferred.
  • Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
  • Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
  • Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
  • Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
